Getting Around Victoria

No matter where you want to go within the city of Victoria, or if you want to branch out and explore the entire Vancouver Island, there is a mode of transportation that will suit your needs.

There are basically 3 areas of transportation you need to be concerned with in planning a trip to Victoria, British Columbia; this section will cover how to best get to Vancouver Island, how to get around the city of Victoria and how to get to some of the major attractions outside of Victoria. Of special interest to visitors to Victoria is the Harbour Ferry, a small boat carrying passengers to various points within the Inner Harbour and also offering tours around the harbour.

There are lots of ways to get around Greater Victoria. The least expensive way is the public bus system (B.C. Transit can be reached at 250-385-2551). There are also bike and scooter rentals for the more adventurous tourist.

You can always rent cars in Victoria too, but if you do not wish to drive or cannot drive, then everything can easily be accessed by using the taxi or bus service.

One of the most popular ways to see the city of Victoria is to simply walk. The city is very walker-friendly and you can work up a great appetite as you view all the attractions the city offers. There are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops where you can refuel during your tour of the city.
