One of my favorite places in Victoria, BC is Butchart Gardens. Getting there is half of the fun. My husband and I traveled on a jittery double-decker bus along the coast for a bit until we reached the gardens. The people on the bus were very friendly, and we had a great time.
It's difficult for me to describe the gardens... I can only say that they are fabulous, and not to be missed if you are in Victoria. There are so many different varieties of flowers, and so many different styles of gardens. It really is breathtaking.
I can honestly say, it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. There are several gardens that are like rooms. You can view them from above, then walk down into them.
There is a riot of color everywhere you look. Some of the gardens have water features, including a waterfall. There are many different types of trees. Some, I had never seen before.
The climate on Victoria is very temperate, and it appears to be ideal for growing and maintaining all of the different plant specimens. Butchart Gardens is a magical place. I definitely recommend a visit.
I liked how you described the various gardens as "rooms" and also that you pointed out the many fine water features to be found in Butchart Gardens. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
